The Goody-Goody Girl

From Johnathan A. Mora

I like that story. Too bad it wasn’t full length, it would have made an awesome novel. Or
screenplay. You really are talented Darby. When I was younger I loved to write short
stories, and I often fantasized about writing a book, even started once…I still have the
same dream. But back to, “The Goody-Goody Girl”, what a wonderful turn of things for
Charlene, her life seemed all too mundane and her plight is a common one. I often
wonder about people when I look at them and make up my own little life for them in my
mind.....even though my own little reality of their lives probably couldn’t be further from
the truth. Maybe I’m wrong about that, but I doubt it.

Anyway, I was very pleased by your writing and it stirred things in me, (as good writing
should). I I loved the way the story made me feel and found myself wishing there was
more of it.
Four youngsters with
physical disabilities and
abundant talent solve the
mystery of dozens of cats
gone missing. It's written
for young readers about 8
to 12 years old as they
choose their peer groups
and sometimes are tempted
to taunt and tease.
Although there is a
subliminal message, the
story is fun and fast paced -
ideal for children of any and
all abilities!

From Colleen Brittain

I Just finished reading your book Darby, it's great!  Reminds me of my 7th through
12th grade years!  Although I'm not handi-capable I had a "crew" that I hung out
with and we were always getting into similar predicaments!  (We were also not
accepted by the other groups of kids).  It is refreshing to see a book that takes into
consideration the awesome capabilities of those with disabilities.  They often are
better at most things that we capable people take for granted, such as hearing,
smelling and sleuthing.  Makes me wonder sometimes who really are the capable
ones.
