Welcome to a life's journey, told in music

"Meow.Org - The Catnapping Caper," is a mystery book for middle
readers. The story features protagonists with physical disabilities who
use their natural talents to uncover what’s behind the disappearance
of dozens of fostered cats.

Initially, the four youngsters come together because they are not
popular in school. Rather, they are bullied and teased because of
their differences – a common dynamic that takes place in schools as
kids bend to peer pressure. Calling themselves “The Crew,” they
focus on problem solving, while dealing with social challenges.
The Crew is optimistic, upbeat and action-oriented despite their
physical challenges. Together they use their personal gifts in logic,
technology and creativity to solve the mystery. The characters and
story make the book fast-paced and entertaining. I’ve peppered the
story with ‘kid jokes’ and the 2 central “cat-nappers” are amusing
bunglers. The social message is delivered with a gentle hand.

This book will have a positive impact upon young readers who are in
the process of learning how to treat people who may look, sound and
act different than themselves. In addition, I hope it will give
youngsters with disabilities fictional characters to admire and enjoy.
Approximately 37.5 million Americans over the age of five have some
form of disability. However, I want to emphasize that the book is
intended for mainstream kids.

I have been a print journalist and Web writer for more than two
decades. I am widely published in newspapers, magazines and online.
The manuscript has been reviewed by a medical expert, a child
psychologist and an education specialist who are enthusiastic about
the book.
